With the daring and uncertainty typical of a young artist, Dimitris Mantadakis places most of his artistic practices in the context of all those visual explorations that sometimes identify and sometimes create various relationships between the wide spectrum of contemporary ideas, the variety of every kind of information and all available media different and remote from the visual arts. In the content of his works, he approaches a large set of cognitive fields including chemistry, physics, history and philosophy. He draws data, information, and ideas from the internet in a continuous flow, returning to them each time, seeking new perspectives in a series of permanent reflections. Born in Heraklion, Crete, Mantadakis left his studies in Biomedical Sciences to pursue visual arts at the Athens School of Fine Arts. His work includes installations, videos, online applications, and designs.
