Juliana Julieta, visual artist and filmmaker working in the field of Painting and Experimental Cinema. BA and Master in Painting. 2021 - "16mm immersive lab" at Casa do Xisto; Dear Doc fellowship, seminar and workshop (w/ Naomi Uman) at Doc's Kingdom; 2022 Artist Residence at Mono No Aware (NY), screening films at Anthology Film Archives. Member of Tower Lab and co-founder of No Room collective, artist-run spaces working with analogue film and photography, based in Porto. Selected at 7ªed. Analog Cookbook; Curtas Vila do Conde; IndieLisboa; Luleå International FilmFestival, Gawler: Women's International Film Festival. Creating images that explore tactile visuality, "images of sensation", vertical/poetic time, materiality (the organic and sensitive physical celluloid), accidents and performative projections, I am interested in the cross-contaminations between painting, film and performance; with a concern to develop alternative non-toxic processes. My works are born from my love for analog cinema and the potential for community building that experimental cinema has.
