Gala Hernández López

Artist-researcher and filmmaker. I am a PhD candidate at Université Paris 8, where I develop a research-creation project on screen capture. I have been a DAAD fellow researcher at the Filmuniversität Babelsberg Konrad Wolf (Germany). I co-direct the collective After Social Networks (www.after-social-networks.com). My work articulates interdisciplinary research with the production of essay films on the new modes of subjectivation produced specifically by computational digital capitalism. I am particularly interested in studying, through a feminist, poetic and critical lens, the discourses and imaginaries that circulate in eminently male online communities. My medium-length film "La Mécanique des fluides" is the first part of a series of experimental essays - to be followed by HODL, selected at the Berlinale's Short Form Station - that propose a reflection on the politics of the representation of contemporary masculinity on the Internet in its articulation with algorithms and digital flows of data, signs and capital.
